Yesterday it was my last day at the University of L’Aquila, Abruzzi, as a research fellow in Computer Science. As many of you already know, the city of L’Aquila, a jewel in the middle of the Italian peninsula, was shocked by a major earthquake the 6th of April, 2009.
Although many things weren’t done properly in the meantime, the city center in the last months is starting to be lived again by the aquilani, at least in the evening to have a promenade or so. The plans to open for the local airport — called Aeroporto dei Parchi — seem to come to a good point, that is, it will be opened soon.
In fact, I’m convinced that the future of L’Aquila, which is situated in a uneasy position in terms of transportation and logistics, is written in the improvement of connection with Abruzzi, the other parts of Italy and the rest of the world, and the airport can make the difference.
So, good bye L’Aquila and finger crossed!
